Changing the design of the kitchen: the interior in the style of “Manhattan”

“A year ago, Olga and Michael bought an apartment, but they could not fully equip it. There is practically no furniture in their kitchen and there is not even a stove! And Olga has to cook in a slow cooker not only for her husband, but also for two small children. Olga and Michael are a very temperamental couple, so in the design project I wanted to combine functionality with a bright stylistic solution. To do this, I chose a fashionable direction – a loft. With the help of this style, I made Olga’s dream come true: to live in Manhattan – a reality”, – says the designer of the show “Made with Taste” on TNT Tatyana Zhivolupova.

Problem:

1. Broken sofa, wobbly plastic table, and unreliable chairs are the only pieces of furniture;

2. Of the equipment, only an old multicooker and a microwave;

3. The lone decoration of the kitchen is a shabby poster overlooking Manhattan.

Solution:

1. The kitchen area was moved to the window area, thereby achieving better illumination of the working area.

2. Fitted in the kitchen all the necessary appliances: a refrigerator, a dishwasher, a hob and an oven, as well as a waste chopper.

3. To avoid unnecessary crushing of space in this already small kitchen, one of the doors was made invisible (on the same level and color as the wall).

4. The wall with the image of the famous New York street makes the kitchen more youthful. The false plasterboard wall with the image of Manhattan recedes from the load-bearing wall by 10 cm, providing a great opportunity for lighting. When the main lighting is turned off, the windows of the houses of the evening city begin to glow, creating a magical illusion.

5. Table, stylized as the Brooklyn Bridge. Now he continues the history of Manhattan. At the heart of the original underframe are overhead panels from the fireplace, the surface is made of thick tempered glass, which looks very stylish.

6. We hung the window portal with open shelves for storing spices and cereals. But in addition to functionality, this storage system gives a solid look to the space of the working area and the entire room as a whole.

Designer Tips:

• Do not be afraid to transfer the working area of ​​the kitchen! If you think well about the withdrawal of communication, then everything is solved.

• Doors – “invisible” help to hide unnecessary fragmentation of the walls in the interior.

• Lighting is best divided into zones: working, dining and plus additional lighting.

• A very handy device – waste shredder. Using a grinder in the kitchen increases the hygiene of the room, relieving it of unpleasant odors. And waste, crushed to 3 mm particles, does not clog sewer pipes.
