Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are famous for their ability to please their loyal customers and friends. Arrange them a real fairy tale. As you know, designers do not take part in the Fashion Week in Paris. But from year to year in July they hold their “alternative” show ALTA MODA. It usually attracts VIP guests from around the world. Among the regulars you can see the most respected fashion critic from Britain Suzy Menkes, editor and expert Anna Dello Russofashion director of TSUM Allu Werber and many others. As a rule, the press is not invited to this closed event.
Shows traditionally take place in various regions of Italy. This year the main city of the island of Sicily, Palermo, was chosen. It is interesting that a very rich program is being invented for the guests. On the eve of the obligatory gala dinner by candlelight. In Palermo, it took place right under the open sky. Round tables were set up in the cozy courtyard of one of the old villas. The treats, decor looked simply breathtaking. In the meantime, in one of the main squares of the city, piazza Pretoria, next to the magnificent fountain of 1550, a catwalk was built for defile, on which a red carpet was laid out.
In the morning, while the guests were having a leisurely breakfast, the dress rehearsal had already begun on the square by the fountain under the scorching rays of the southern Sicilian sun. In order to somehow save the models participating in the fashion show from the heat, all of them were given umbrellas and fans.
But in the evening, when the heat subsided, the audience of the show was able to fully enjoy the show of the new collection right under the open sky. Designers very often use this technique: after all, you can’t imagine the best scenery. How beautiful their pompous models with crinolines and crowns on their heads look against the backdrop of medieval squares, fountains and balconies. The defile itself, as always, was accompanied by arias from Italian operas, which gave everything that happened on the podium even more significance and majesty. And then again a magnificent dinner, numerous congratulations, toasts to the health of Domenico and Stefano. And does it really matter what exactly was shown on the podium? The main thing is with what imagination all this is invented. Once again, the guests shouted tirelessly “Bravo”!
