The New Year’s table and menu, along with the decoration of the New Year tree, are the most responsible and difficult tasks. In order to celebrate the New Year 2020 correctly and win the blessing of its patroness – the White (Metal) Rat, you need to follow several important rules in decorating the dining area and preparing treats.
We decorate the New Year’s table
First you need to decide in what color scheme the table will be decorated. It is important not to overdo it here, and the same rules apply as in the decor of a festive spruce. The most optimal is to use one or two colors. It is best to take the colors that the hostess of the next year prefers as the basis of the composition – white and silver.
It is recommended to cover the New Year’s table with a white tablecloth made of natural fabrics (linen, cotton), serve it with white or transparent dishes, napkins and Christmas-themed rings that will match the color scheme you have chosen.
The New Year’s atmosphere will be perfectly complemented by decorative elements – silver candles, cones, fir branches and flower arrangements with white roses, daisies or dahlias.
Making a holiday menu
Having decided on the design of the decor of the festive table, proceed to the preparation of the menu. Fortunately, the Rat is a predator, and this year, unlike the previous ones – the Fire Rooster and the Earth Pig, when poultry and pork were banned, absolutely everything is possible.
Therefore, you can safely prepare your “crown” dishes. It can be both traditional New Year’s salads – “Olivier”, “Pomegranate Bracelet”, “Mimosa” and “Herring under a fur coat”, and original ones – “Crab-corn”, “Royal” and “Nicoise”.
Another important detail: cheese must be present at the festive feast – the favorite delicacy of the patroness of the coming year.
If you want originality, make a mini-tree (as in the photo): string lettuce, bread and bacon on a skewer, and use cheese to create a star on top.
You should definitely finish the festive meal with tea or coffee with a sweet dessert. It can be any delicacy to your taste: cake, pastries, pies or cookies.
