First of all, you can determine the dry air in the apartment or not by houseplants. Without the right percentage of moisture, green plants will be the first to take the hit and begin to dry.

Dry air is also bad for your health. The first signal that you need hydration is the drying of the nasal mucosa, and this leads to itching, irritation and sometimes bleeding. Also, due to the drying of the protective membranes in the mucous membrane of the throat, the risk of catching colds increases.

Your skin also suffers from low moisture. When there is not enough moisture in the air, the skin begins to dry, itching, peeling appear, lips begin to crack, acne appears.

You are constantly shocked by touching blankets and woolen clothes. Dry air increases the concentration of static electricity.

If the air is very dry, there is little oxygen in it. Due to the shortage, the metabolic process slows down and as a result you feel sleepy more often and get tired faster.

You may become allergic to dust. This is because warm air rises and cold air sinks. Because of these movements, the dust does not settle on the surfaces of the furniture, but flies around the apartment, getting into your nose and throat.

To get rid of all the unpleasant consequences that dry indoor air causes, it must be constantly moistened. The norm of humidity, which you must try to comply with, should be 40-50% for an adult. For children, this rate is much higher. Most often, children feel good when the humidity in the room is 70-80%. Therefore, in order for the child to feel well and get sick less, the necessary level of humidity must be observed in the children’s room.

Put a container of water on the battery or just anywhere in the room. Water from will not evaporate, and the air will be saturated with moisture. This method does not require large expenditures of money and time, since you need to add plain tap water once every two weeks as it evaporates.

If there is no humidity meter on the device, then there is a risk of overdoing it and then you will have to dry the air. They can only be used with windows and doors closed to get the desired effect.

An emergency way to humidify the air is to boil a pot of water. Remember to put the boiling water in a safe place.
