Botox and hyaluronic acid injections are at the peak of popularity. Recently, more and more women (and men too) are interested in “beauty shots.” However, on women’s forums and social networks, you can find hundreds of photos of the terrible consequences of the introduction of botulinum toxin and “hyaluron” … And this is not fiction! The poor-quality work of unscrupulous cosmetologists often has to be corrected by doctors, to eliminate the consequences of unsuccessful procedures on the faces of patients. How to protect yourself from possible mistakes and how to choose a specialist who can be trusted with the most precious thing – beauty and health? We discussed this with an expert. Possible reaction. These injections have long been known to Russian women as one of the best remedies for mimic wrinkles. Botox is able to get rid of wrinkles on the forehead and bridge of the nose, crow’s feet around the eyes and downturned corners of the mouth … What is the risk? As Maria Amelina explains, the most common unpleasant consequences are asymmetry of facial expressions, lack of effect, overhanging of the upper eyelids and severe swelling of the lower eyelids.

The reasons. The key reason for failure is the incorrect administration of the drug. It seems to many that Botox injections are quite simple, that special skills are not needed here. In fact, the procedure requires the doctor to have high precision and excellent knowledge of anatomy, the structure of facial muscles and the principles of their work.

In addition, the quality of the drug and compliance with storage rules affect the result. It is known that the share of counterfeit and fake botulinum toxin in Russia reaches 20-30%.

The result also depends on the age of the patient. Over the years, any person develops muscle weakness, so the older age group has areas that should not be corrected with Botox. The reasons. Most women are afraid of allergies and inflammation. But there should not be such a reaction to hyaluronic acid itself – it already exists in our skin and is familiar to the body. Another thing is the other components of the filler, such as lidocaine, to which an allergy is possible. If you suffer from intolerance to any substances, you should definitely tell your doctor about it. An unexpected reaction of the body to the filler is also possible if an expired drug is used.

“When using reliable certified fillers, the probability of any defects is close to zero. In 20 years of practice, I have only had one case of an allergy to a quality filler. This is a rarity,” says Maria Amelina. “But, according to statistics, the share of counterfeit hyaluron on the Moscow market is 30%, which means that there is a danger.”

Despite the fact that the unsuccessful consequences of lip and cheek augmentation with the help of “hyaluron” look much worse than reactions to Botox, they are easier to fix.

If good fillers were used, then everything can be done “as it was” in just 2-3 days, a maximum of a week. There is a special antidote – antihyaluronic acid. So specialists can remove acute symptoms in a day. It is very important to discuss contraindications at the consultation in order to choose the right filler. For example, when a patient says that he is allergic to lidocaine, the cosmetologist simply uses fillers, where this substance is not included in the composition.

If fillers with hyaluronic acid were used without a certificate, then things are much worse. Everything here is very individual and depends on the competence and experience of the cosmetologist. It may well be that in especially neglected cases, treatment will take more than one month.

To make sure that hyaluronic acid or botulinum toxin is reliable, ask the doctor to show certificates before the procedure – the drug must be registered with Roszdravnadzor, you can check this on the official website of the department. Carefully inspect the packaging itself, not forgetting to check the expiration date.
