How to get rid of fleas in the apartment: six mandatory steps

If fleas appeared in the house, you can forget about a quiet life. They not only cause discomfort, but are also carriers of dangerous diseases. If suddenly you notice itchy red dots on your legs, this is the first sign that these parasites have appeared in your apartment. Do not pull and immediately proceed to the fight against bloodsuckers. Here are a few ways to help you with this.

Check pets

Often parasites are brought into the apartment by cats or dogs. If you notice small insects in your pet’s coat, immediately consult a veterinarian and treat it. You can use special shampoos, preparations and collars.

Wash textiles

When you’re done with the animals, pay attention to the underwear. Gather bedding, curtains, blankets, towels and throw in the washing machine. Parasites and their eggs are very tenacious, so washing should take place at a temperature of at least 60 degrees.

Clean furniture and carpets

Fleas prefer secluded places, so they are most often found in soft toys, in beds, closets between clothes, on carpets and on the floor.

Thoroughly clean and vacuum all floor coverings. Treat the floor with special detergents – parasites do not tolerate their smell – as well as cabinets, cabinets, chests of drawers and other furniture in the house. Pay special attention to corners and hard-to-reach places.

At the end of cleaning, put the garbage from the vacuum cleaner in an airtight plastic bag and throw it away to be 100% safe.

Shine your shoes

Humans can also become carriers of parasites. The easiest way to bring parasites into the house is on street shoes – bloodsuckers stick directly to the sole. So every time you get home, try to wash your shoes.

Do not forget about the rug in front of the door, otherwise you will not have time to look back, as the parasites form their colony in it.

Throw away old things

If there are many traces of parasites on clothes, bed linen, mattress or any other thing, it is useless to fight it. It is better to take such items to the trash – this will save both strength and money.

Use sprays and aerosols

An effective assistant in the fight against fleas will be special tools: aerosols, suspensions, powders, sprays. However, before using them, we recommend that you do the following:

• remove people and animals from the premises. If there is an aquarium in the apartment, it is better to cover it with glass and turn off the compressor;

• close all windows and doors for maximum efficiency;

• start processing from the accumulation of parasite habitats, and then apply the product to all other areas where they may be;

• leave the house for two to three hours, then return and ventilate the room;

• carry out wet cleaning and wash all textiles and soft toys at a high temperature.
