Dry skin is often prone to flaking. It would seem that the use of scrubs in this case is not required, because they can damage the thin cover. But experts agree that owners of dry skin also need to regularly carry out peeling procedures. The only difference is that you will have to select more gentle products that do not injure the delicate cover and nourish it with the necessary moisture.
Dry skin of the face: why do you need a scrub?
Dry skin visually looks “stretched”, often peels off, microcracks form on it, mimic and age wrinkles are more noticeable — many problems appear in the winter. Of course, aesthetic defects can be «disguised» with the help of powder or foundation — but the situation often only becomes more complicated, since decorative cosmetics leads to even greater dryness of the cover. Since the sebaceous glands secrete a minimal amount of sebum, the protective fat layer on the face is very thin — it cannot protect the cover from negative environmental factors.
You are mistaken if you think that the scrub can damage the delicate cover. Dry skin type, like any other, needs regular cleansing! And you can’t do without the use of peeling agents! Scrubs will help exfoliate dead cells — the cover will “renew”. In addition, if you choose the right care product, the beneficial substances in its composition will enrich the cells with vitamins and the necessary moisture — the skin will look healthy and beautiful.
In the case of dry skin, it is recommended to use scrubs no more than 2 times a week! And pay special attention to the choice of cosmetics. You can use both purchased and homemade formulations.
What to look for when buying skin care products?
Choosing a scrub for dry skin is quite difficult. Many care products presented on store shelves contain large abrasive particles — they can really damage the delicate cover. Buy scrubs that are specifically designed for dry skin. They will exfoliate dead skin cells and nourish the cells with moisture — this way you will get rid of many aesthetic skin problems that bother you so much. Apply the product with gentle massaging movements — do not press hard on the cover.
Pay attention to the composition of the purchased product. The list of ingredients should not include alcohol-containing substances — they will «dry» the skin even more. Both natural and synthetic components can act as abrasive particles. The main rule is that they must be carefully ground and have a rounded shape without sharp edges. Care cosmetics of a gel or cream texture are perfect — such compositions act on the cover more gently, without damaging it. Nourish the skin and moisturize its additional components — oils (almond, peach, apricot, raspberry, coconut, cocoa), aloe juice, herbal extracts, vitamins E and D.
An excellent alternative to “ordinary” facial scrubs are gommages. In their composition, they do not have abrasive particles at all. And effective cleansing of the cover, in this case, is provided thanks to substances that literally “corrode” dead cells. But so that the acids in the composition do not harm thin skin, choose non-aggressive gommages designed specifically for your type.
Homemade scrubs for dry skin
The face can also be cleansed with home scrubs. For their preparation, you will use natural ingredients that will not harm the cover.
Carefully approach the choice of the peeling component that will be present in the «homemade» scrub. It is better to take the following components — semolina, ground oatmeal, coffee grounds, strawberry pulp. Avoid using ground coffee beans and nuts, sea salt is not the best option for dry skin. For effective moisturizing and nourishing the skin, it is recommended to include the following components in the recipes of home formulations — vegetable oils, dairy products (sour cream, cottage cheese, milk), cosmetic clay.
Dry skin will respond well to the “right” homemade scrub recipe. Select it, focusing on the problems that you want to eliminate — peeling of the cover, «clogged» pores, wrinkles that have appeared. And before applying the composition to the face, test it — treat it with a small amount of cover to make sure that there is no allergy to the components used.
The skin will become smooth and silky if you include the following scrubs in your home care:
- Removal of even severe irritations on the skin, elimination of peeling
Thoroughly wash a small cucumber and grate it (you can first remove the peel). Mix the vegetable gruel (together with the secreted juice) with 50-100 g of natural yoghurt without additives. Treat the cover with massaging movements — a soft peeling effect will be given by cucumber seeds. Then leave the scrub on your face for 5-10 minutes.
- Effective skin cleansing
Mash 2-3 strawberries into puree. Dilute it with warm milk until a paste-like consistency is obtained. Scrub your face for 1-3 minutes. This tool does not need exposure to the skin — then immediately wash it off with warm water.
- Nourishing skin cells, gentle exfoliation
Grind 20 g of oatmeal in a coffee grinder. Pour 2-3 pieces of figs for 20 minutes with hot milk so that they soften a little. Then grate the fruit. To grated figs, add oatmeal and 30 ml of warm milk. Scrub the skin, then rinse.
- Evening complexion, moisturizing the skin
Wash the carrot and grate it on a fine grater. Mix vegetable puree in equal proportions with semolina. Add 50 ml of warm milk to the composition — mix everything thoroughly. Scrub after treatment with the cover does not need to be kept on the skin, since carrots can give a coloring effect.
- Removal of inflammation, «whitening» effect
Finely chop a small bunch of dill and parsley. Add 2 tbsp to greens. l fat sour cream and 1 tbsp. l olive oil. Scrub the problem areas of the skin. Then the composition can be left on the skin for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with warm water.
